God's way

Ps 27:4: "One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple."

Wasting time

So i'm done with the semester but i still need to do research. My mom and my sister are visiting, and that's such a great joy! I praise God for bringing them here and that i have the chance to share with them part of my life here. Too bad i have deadlines and these days they are in NYC and i am in the department doing work.

This morning, between fixing bugs in the program i'm working at right now, i ran into Ethan Chan's blog. Ethan Chan goes to our church and i know one of his kids from teaching kindergarten once every 4 months. He is in his 30s and has 3 very young children. He has cancer, his stomach has been removed and recently he found that the cancer has spread in his bones. It was amazing how the whole church was moved to pray for him. Reading his blog is amazing: just to see what happens and the way he sees things. He's so honest and real.

I was shocked by the contrast between Ethan's way of seeing things and mine. It made me think about how great God is and how bad i am in acknowledging what He's doing every day around me and in me. I am so used to thinking that it's me doing everything, but it's actually Him doing everything, sustaining life, giving us air, providing food, clothes and everything we have. Sometimes i feel i'm waisting time doing all the things that, honestly, are a lot of fun but with shallow meaning. But i know i'm here with a puropse and i REALLY hope God uses the things i'm doing for His glory, for His purposes.

Sometimes, when i look at the lives of other Christians, like Ethan's, i just see the power of God's grace in changing us, the way we think, what we do, etc. I'm just so immature.. Please pray for Ethan.

Philippians4:4-9: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5.Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."
