A lot of stuff that's happened lately has made me think about Romania. Two girls from the church who have been doing research at Rutgers during this summer were leaving to go back home in South America a couple of days ago. The night before, I visited them and we ended up talking about our rooms (as in “my room”) from HOME. I remember when I got back home for Christmas after only 4 month of being away, I went to my room and the feelings I got from everything that was there were so strong that I started crying. It was pretty ridiculous. Another really weird thing is when I find random movies about Romania on the web, like this one. I get really excited and emotional and it's funny because people from back home that I ask to watch the videos are totally indifferent to them. They're like: "umm...'kay" (Hi Mom! :D ). I guess it’s true what they say that there’s no place like home. Especially when you're far away :)
Anyway, coming here I never expected anybody to have heard of Romania. But I discovered that pretty much everybody has a relative who has been in Romania at some point or that they have a Romanian friend. One time, somebody from the intervarsity group started telling me how he was watching the news during the anti-communist revolution in Romania and he just knew so much about it! I was shocked. Very impressed but still shocked. This other lady from the church told me her family used to pray every night for Romania as she was growing up. All these people have no idea how much they helped. I'm just so thankful that God put this calling in their hearts! It blows my mind just to think about it. I guess all these thoughts are a great encouragement to me because we have no idea how big an impact our faith, prayers and desire to serve God have in the world we're living in and just how big the works He sends us to do are. Most of the times, it's hard to see the big picture, but I know there actually is a big picture and we're just too small to see it. It's hard to picture that we actually are His hands and feet and that He is God and can do anything. So we're actually pretty strong in Him :)
I think that as children of God, we are called to serve the world, to take care of it, to make His light shine. And I also think that people to whom God gives instructions on how to do that are just so blessed! Kind of got lost in details, actually I just wanted to praise God for all the people who have taken His light to the world (and esp. to my country) and for how encouraging it is that His plan actually works so wonderfully.

You do me great unjustice!
I never said I didn't like those videos about Romania. On the contrary,I like romanian scenery a lot and I think it's an amazing country, with a great choice of beautiful landscapes.I am the first to admire a beautiful landscape from our mountains or a nicely photographed building in Bucarest,so don't blame the indifference on me!
But regarding your main topic,I remember I heard Richard Wurmbrand talking about the time he was doing missionary work in India. He was amazed by the interest which Christ is stirring back there. It was the first time in his life,he said ,when he preached in front of a crowd of thousands. It was just after the 1989 revolution in Romania, and he asked the crowd those who have been praying for Romania to please raise their hands. And he was amazed by the number of hands which rose!A lot of people were praying for a distant country they barely knew existed. That is what the Holy Spirit is achieving,he puts in our hearts the urge to pray for someone who needs it,even if that someone is very far away and we don't know him at all,and most certainly never will, but God shows us we need to pray for him,so that He can do His work with that person.
It's amazing and wonderful.
Please,God,make me a tool in Your hands!
Yes, Romania is v cool and we all love it, but it's different when you live there and pretty much any time you can take the train and get to the mountains in 2 hours. And you live in Bucharest and can walk the streets any time (lucky!). These things seem much more exciting when you're far away and I think it's a totally different perspective. That's what I meant :)
